Isn't that a bit dangerous? All the advice is to not use Root unless neccessary and then only from a user account.

so they say, however i have been the root user on all my machines for 27 years,
when i first started with linux i made backups of everything, which should be mandatory anyway, so if i messed up i just restore whatever it was i messed up and that was a lot while i was learning but nothing major
it's a bit of a battle these days with the developers disabling all sorts for root but nothing that can't be overcome

Yes indeed, backups are imperative.
I'll just stick to my user account for now I think.
